2018-03 Arlington, VA - Family Event

Holly and I took a trip to Arlington, VA for a family event from Boston, MA. We were originally supposed to fly out from Boston on Friday, 03/02/2018 in the evening after work but due to an incoming Nor'easter our flight got cancelled the night before. We therefore grabbed tickets for an early Amtrak Northeast Regional train from Boston to Washington DC. This did not work out well for us. The 7 hour 50 minute ride from Boston to DC took us around 12 hours to go from Boston South Station to New York Penn Station.
We were in an Amtrak Northeast Regional train in business class.
Our train stopped in New York Penn Station and did not continue. Amtrak was giving us no guarantees about departing the next day or what train we would be on.We caught a NJ Transit Northeast Corridor train to Trenton, NJ.
It was not quite as comfortable, but its average speed was much better than the crawl we took from Boston to New York.
We got off in Trenton, NJ and took a Lyft to my Aunt's and Uncle's who were going to drive and attend the same event. We got around 2-3 hours of sleep on a couch. The board at the Trenton Transit Center showed a lot of cancellations.
We got to the event on time. But we had lost a night at our hotel, the Westin in Arlington, VA. After the morning event a few of us took a walk. I took some photos along the way. I also tested out my new Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens before the trip to Japan.

DC is known for having cherry trees donated from Japan. They were in bloom and quite pretty. A little preview of what we would be seeing in Japan.
