Seattle, WA - W Hotel

 After the hike at Little Si and trip to Bainbridge Island I needed a nap. Holly grabbed the camera and took some pictures from the hotel.

She mainly experimented with different camera and lens settings.

Seattle, WA - W Hotel

 End of the night on our first day and the morning of our second I took some photos from our hotel room.

Montréal - Hôtel Le Crystal

We stayed at the Hôtel Le Crystal. Our suite was pretty nice. There were a few minor signs of wear. For our purposes the room was great, as a suite, as it provided a good place for use to meet with our friends and plan our days.

The bathrobes here were rather comfortable.

Tokyo - Mitsui Garden Kyobashi Hotel

The Mitsui Garden Kyobashi Hotel was our last hotel in Japan. It was also on of the nicest and perhaps our largest room. I think they also upgraded our room.

Osaka - remm Shin-Osaka Hotel

In Osaka we spent two nights at the remm Shin-Osaka Hotel. This hotel's entrance was located in the JR Shin-Osaka Station, quite similar to the Nagoya JR Gate Tower Hotel in terms of station convenience, though without the spectacular view. In terms of this station it appeared a lot more to focus on styling over function, especially in terms of functional counter space.

Kyoto - Ibis Styles Kyoto Station

In Kyoto we stayed in the Ibis Styles Kyoto Station hotel. While it was very close to the JR Kyoto Station there were hotels within the track layout which would have given us views similar to those in Nagoya. The hotel room was medium sized for Japan and small by US standards. The hotel included a respectable breakfast buffet each morning.

Nagoya - Nagoya JR Gate Tower Hotel

Yet another morning entrapped by the views outside the Nagoya JR Gate Tower Hotel. We found it interesting how the trains would line up for the morning rush hour. Also, we could catch some of the shinkansens coming from the service location. Again we were still shocked how dirty the tops of the shinkansen were.

We got distracted again in the morning. So, this train may have led to some wasted time. We were very distracted by all the inbound and outbound trains. We were surprised to see how clean the shinkansens were on the sides and yet how dirty on top.

At last we checked into our Nagoya hotel. The Nagoya JR Gate Tower Hotel is most likely the fanciest hotel we stayed in, and one of the closest to US hotel proportions. It also had a fancy tablet that controlled many things and let us order pillows (no charge), etc. It was quite nice.

Chikuma City - Kamesei Ryokan

Holly wanted some pictures of herself in the ryokan provided yukata.

We took a shinkansen from Omiya to Nagano and then the Shinonoi Line line, maybe, to the Shinano Tetsudo Line to get to Togura Station in Chikum. We then walked from the station to the Kamesei Ryokan. This is a traditional onsen inn and we really enjoyed both it and the food. Also, temperatures in Nagano Prefecture were notably lower than anywhere we had been so far. We really liked this place and would likely go again. I did not take pictures of the onsen and public bath, but you can find images online.

Tokyo - Hotel Belken Tokyo

Our first hotel in Japan was the Hotel Belken Tokyo, room 702. The statement that Japanese hotel rooms are small (by US standards) was certainly true. The layout was quite functional though. We also had some pretty views out our window and cherry blossoms on the streets immediately adjacent our hotel.
Our hotel was about a 10-15 walk from JR Tokyo Station, a bit longer with the bags.

We stayed at the Arbel Guest House Shavit Family. It was a nice house with pleasant rooms and a lot of nice gardens where they grew fruit and such that you could have with your meal. We ate breakfast there and it was excellent.
