Phoenix, AZ – Desert Botanical Gardens

We visited an old coworker of mine in Phoenix, AZ. We visited the Desert Botanical Gardens. Lots of flowers and plants to photograph.
I have pictures of signs for some of the flowers and plants.

So, most of these are going to be a mystery unless you already know what they are.

The bees were pretty photographically friendly here too.
One monarch butterfly willing to pose.

The butterflies really liked this milkweed and were very easy to photograph.

I really liked the colors and veins on these leaves.

Being able to see through the water to the stones and see reflection of the cactus made for a nice photo as well.

The Gambel's quail were extremely favorite while one of our party was eating some granola.

This roadrunner got close, but not too close. But at least it was still enough to allow for some nice photos. It posed quite nicely.

Not sure what kind of butterfly this was, but it also posed for us quite nicely.

Apparently there are some mutations in cacti and this happens.

This is the skeleton of a saguaro cactus.

There was an art installation of plastic animal sculptures. It was okay, but not great. This was probably my favorite of them all though.
