Davis–Monthan Air Force Base, AZ - 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group

As part of our trip to the Pima Air & Space Museum we payed extra for a tour of the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (309th AMARG) at the Davis–Monthan Air Force Base.
B-1B Lancer

The planes were covered in a multi-layer coating process that acts as both a dust and heat shield. The intent is that these planes are preserved in such a condition that they can be returned to active service in 72 hours or less.
At this point we are on a bus and cannot get off, so all photos are taken through the bus and its windows.

F-117 Nighthawk (Stealth Fighter)
Okay, so at both the Pima Air & Space Museum and on the tour bus we had the guides at both site have the same joke and make it about the stealth fighter. In the case of the 309th AMARG they go the extra mile in having wheels and a ladder there, not just the sign. (Stealth fighter, so you cannot see it.)
But, it turns out that all that radar absorbent material does poorly in the sun and heat. So the F-117 is not stored here.
